A Liberty villa in a setting of rare natural beauty
Domus Aurorae is conveniently located in the heart of Italian history, art, culture and sights of natural beauty. The villa is only 4 km far from the city of Arezzo, in an excellent position in the quiet countryside but at the same time it’s very easy to reach towns, shops, supermarkets and wineries. The charming historic city of Cortona stays only 35 km away, less than half an hour drive from the villa. Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Perugia and many other cosy medieval towns can be visited within a range of 1 hour drive.
The original building dates back the 1800’s, in the so called ''Liberty'' style. The villa has been first restored at the beginning of last century to become the family’s home, which explains the accommodating atmosphere and all family pieces, objects and furniture. Recently, the villa passed through a second renovation, to become a lovely vacation rental. The villa offers a surface of 390 square metres, on two floors, including a large covered terrace that is like an outdoor dining room. All ceramic floors have the typical ornamental or geometric decoration that was “en vogue” in the time when this Villa was built. We have maintained also the typical wooden beamed ceilings and most of the antique pieces of furniture. The ground floor holds a lovely dining room with an original fireplace, furnished with a precious wooden table and enough space for up to 10 people. Tastefully decorated, the dining room is also a sitting room with antique chairs and comfortable armchairs where to seat and relax by the fireplace. On the right side, you reach the living room that offers a lot of space for everybody to gather and chat after a day-trip, and holds many of the family souvenirs and antiques. On the ground floor is available a guest bathroom with sink, WC and a small bathtub. There is a laundry room available for free use of guests equipped with a washing machine, drying rack, iron and iron board.
There is a stunning wooden staircase on the living room which leads up to the first floor. On the first floor are located 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The outdoor area is fully equipped for eating and relaxing in the mild Tuscan climate. Next to the villa there is a cosy wood with ancient pine trees, holms and lindens. There is a stone built barbecue, and a vegetable garden from where you can collect fresh salad, tomatoes and zucchini for your meals and all Tuscan herbs, delicious to use in kitchen and, why not, even on the meat, like rosemary and thyme which are perfect on a T-bone Steak. Below the old pine trees you reach the swimming pool area, recently built. The pool, which measures 12x6 metres, is surrounded by a stone solarium equipped with umbrellas and comfortable sun loungers. It is really private, because surrounded by a colourful garden, where no one can look into. Upon request, we can prepare you a delicious dinner at home, from the simple home-made cuisine to the most sophisticated dishes. Cooking lessons can also be arranged. Use of car is essential. The property is non-smoking.
Children are welcome, cot and high-chair are available.
Pets are not allowed. Minimum stay 2 nights. Guests are requested to arrive after 4pm and to depart by 10.00am.
