A XIV century Tuscan Villa to welcome you in Tuscany
To spend time at Villa Il Poggio, in the heart of Tuscany, is to discover one's very roots. The ties with the past have never been cut. It can be felt in every wall of the villa, which, from its hilltop position, has dominated the surrounding countryside since the thirteenth century. Elisabetta Perez is the present manager, she takes care of the villa and its lands according to the wishes of her grandmother who recommended that she enliven this superb setting with people, flowers and animals, in order that it should not remain a mere testimony of bygone days.
Villa Il Poggio offers to its guests rooms and independent apartments. The bedrooms are situated on the top floor of the villa and each have separate entrances on the ground floor. The style recalls that of the main building, bringing to mind time-honoured sensations. The furnishings are scrupulously original antiques, as are those in the large lounge where you can while away the hours before bedtime in the company of the other guests.
The silence, the tranquillity, the perfumes and odours, including those of the genuine cooking, all remind us of the atmosphere created in the stories told to us by our grandparents. Villa Il Poggio is proud and centuries old like the cypress trees that surround it. You arrive as a guest and leave as a friend, with a strong desire to return.
Villa Il Poggio offers numerous services for its guests: the more than adequate swimming pool with its magnificent views of the Val di Chiana; the stables, once managed by the owner Elisabetta Perez, are now run by others exclusively as a riding school.
Other activities include, mountain biking, table tennis and the possibility to enjoy as you please the wonderful gardens and land belonging to the estate.
