A renaissance country house classified as "historical" residence
In the heart of the Chianti area, just a few kilometers from Florence there is "Villa Il Poggiale", entirely renovated by its owners with the aim of offering the hospitality and atmosphere of a patrician family country house at affordable prices. Seated under the renaissance "loggia", guests can look out over the classical Italian garden and be enveloped in the fragrance of old roses and flowering shrubs. Either if you are sipping your tea or working on your notebook you can enjoy the Tuscan countryside.
The Villa has wonderful light and spacious rooms. The large hall, the heart of the house, with its beautifully painted doors, has comfortable armchairs and welcoming sofas, while various other smaller lounges offer quiet, cozy corners for reading and relaxation. Each room has its own unique character. The walls are painted in soft pastels made from natural pigments. While the fabrics used for curtains and canopies come from small Tuscan artisan workshops, oriental silks have been used in the salons and rooms on the ground floor.
Villa il Poggiale offers to its guests 8 Standard double rooms, 8 Superior double rooms as well as 8 Suites. All the rooms have private bathroom, air conditioning, mini-bar, telephone, tea and coffee facilities, satellite TV, Internet, WiFi (2Mbit/s) and safe. The buffet breakfast is here a complete "Tuscan Breakfast": fresh ricotta cheese, jams and honey are supplied by the nearby farms. Apple and cinnamon cake, fruit tarts, croissants, chocolate cake and quiches are all home made, some of which with old family recipes. Moreover, on request a light lunch is served during summer in the "Tinaia", the ancient olive oil store room overlooking the pool.
Villa il Poggiale provides the opportunity to enjoy a whole series of charming and relaxing activities: Olive harvest, cooking lessons, truffle hunt, wine tasting in the heart of the Chianti area, massotherapy?and last but not least, guests can consider, here, to rent a car with driver for daily tours throughout Tuscany.
In addition to the light lunch service, from April 1 to October 31 Villa il Poggiale offers its guests the chance of enjoying dinner at the Villa. Leo, the friendly and polyglot cook of the hotel, will prepare every evening simply and refined buffet dinners featuring home specialities and typical Tuscan dishes. He will personally illustrate the dishes he has cooked unveiling the little secrets of his art.
