A holiday with a view of the towers, domes, green nature and skies of Cortona
"Il Casale" has been created within a Fifteenth-Century building, located near San Pietro a Cegliolo, in Cortona. Today it is a warm and welcoming Residence, hidden among the silence of stunning nature. Consisting of both apartments and rooms, it is structured around a large yard and the house with the tower which dominates the complex is certainly the oldest building and maintains some of its original features like the twin-layered roof and the outdoor steps with large landing giving access to the first floor of the Residence.
The Residence has a total of 10 independent apartments, 8 of which are three-room apartments (which sleep 4) and 2 are two-room apartments (for 2). The apartments are sober and elegant: old Tuscan stone floors and ceilings, old Nineteenth-Century furniture, and everything designed carefully considering the needs of modern life. The apartments have two bedrooms, some of which have two double beds. Others have a double bedroom and a bedroom with single beds. The apartments boast bathrooms with showers and living rooms with mini-kitchens (cookers, ovens, fridges provided, of course). The designs, services and atmosphere in general will make you experience "old-style" relaxation and peace.
Every apartment has its own outdoor space equipped with garden tables and chairs while indoors you have satellite TV, air conditioning, heating and your own phone.
The rooms have very smart old Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-Century beds, old mats and prints and handy Nineteenth-Century wardrobes which are the perfect match for the old Tuscan stone floors and ceilings.
When everything is just right, the garden is truly stunning, offering a vast range of extremely we-organised flowers and plants adorning the fine English lawns, where there are tables and chairs for outdoor breakfast and dinner (on request).
Behind one of the complex's wings, on a lawn area of about one hectare, there is the lovely exclusive swimming pool for guests here. Constructed in accordance with the latest standards, it measures 16 x 8 metres. It also offers deck chairs and sun beds with comfy cushions, garden umbrellas and a shower: just about all you need to relax, entertain the kids and, in the background, admire the stunning profile of Cortona, the Etruscan, Medieval and Renaissance city just 3 Km away.
Cortona, once often visited by Mitterand and now by the University of Georgia (USA), in August, is also home to the prestigious national Antique Furniture Fair, which is held in fine rooms in the Palazzo Casali and Palazzo Vagnotti, featuring the most important furniture exhibitors in Italy.
Cortona is not simply a place of artistic beauty: it also a very important tourist location because of its perfect geographical position. Cortona is within a triangle whose three corners are among the cities in Central Italy richest in history and works of art: Arezzo, Siena and Perugia.
The "Il Casale" Residence, then, is the ideal holiday location for lovers of relaxation, art, history and?. all things Tuscan in general.
