Right in the heart of Venice, just beside the Beggar's Bridge, in the New Foundations ("Fondamenta Nuove") part of the Sestiere of Cannaregio, you will find the Seventeenth-Century Merati-Berlendis Palace building, which is a national monument. It still has a rich and elegant series of stuccoes, the work of the Swiss Ticino sculptors Abbondio Stazio and Carpoforo Tencalla. The apartment is approximately 120 square metres in size and has been completely restructured recently. It is located on the mezzanine floor of the Berlendis Palace and all six windows face the canal which flows under Beggar's Bridge. It is just 100 metres from the vaporetto canal boat ("Fondamenta Nuove" stop) and right beside one of the most beautiful park areas in Venice (Campi di Venezia), San Giovanni and Paolo. As it is so central, it's just a 10 minute walk to both Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge.
The main entrance leads you into a large and well-lit living room: here you will find a lovely Seventeenth-Century fireplace decorated, as is the ceiling, with important ancient stuccoes. The living room has two comfy three-seater settees. The living room leads onto the two bedrooms. One bedroom has single beds while the other has a double bed. Both bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms with showers. The living room also leads onto the big well-lit kitchen which has all modern household appliances (a 5-setting cooker, an electric oven, a freezer, a fridge and a dishwasher). It is furnished with an ancient sideboard and a Nineteenth-Century hinged table which seats up to eight people (the washing machine is in a room in the garden). The kitchen leads onto the big sunny terrace which faces and looks onto the lovely Beggar's Bridge and Canal, one of the most commonly-used canals in Venice.
From the terrace, you can walk down stone steps into the garden, which contains a third room with two beds, which is about 25 square metres in size. It is on the ground floor, right beneath the terrace. This room also has a private en-suite bathroom with shower, an original kitchen space built into an ancient wardrobe, a television and a fridge. From the garden, walk though a door to get directly to the Beggar's Bridge and Canal, where you can also moor a boat. Through a private gate in the garden, you get to Calle Berlendis and the rest of the city.
