Stay in the Marche region very close to Urbino in contact with biological nature
The "La Locanda della Valle Nuova" Holiday Farmhouse is right beside Urbino, a city recently recognised by UNESCO as a "World Heritage Site", immersed in a fine hilly landscape amongst peace and quiet, marked out by wild fauna and age-old oak trees, still today protected as during the age of the Dukes of Montefeltro. The "Locanda" Lodging House is run in full respect of the environment and the well-being of the guests. All the rooms, for example, are sound-proofed, have heat insulation and use renewable-energy heating and water systems. The water is also softened. The 75 hectares of land in the farm, cultivated using biological farming systems since 1981, produce wheat, grapes and fruit and vegetables. The Farmhouse Company also produces beef and pork meat and breeds farmyard animals.
The ingredients are then used to prepare bread and pasta, jams and marmalades, a selection of cold meats, wine and all kinds of traditional dishes. Between October and November, you will also find truffles from the Farmhouse woods.
The Farmhouse offers 6 elegant double rooms, with all mod cons. Here you will feel right at home. All the rooms (two of which can be used by three people) have private en-suite bathrooms. All the rooms have their own special colour system: brown, green, blue, periwinkle blue, yellow and pink. To make the rooms as comfortable and handy as possible, they all have TVs, safes and kettles with a broad-ranging assortment of teas and coffees for when you want to relax.
The geographical position of the Farmhouse, right in the heart of the Montefeltro area, means you can go on day trips to many Central Italian cities of art, to enjoy the cultural wonders and works of Raphael, Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Piero della Francesca and a whole range of other artists who worked in this Renaissance cradle of culture. The Farmhouse staff will be delighted to recommend other less well-known trips, which are just as enjoyable: this area is just waiting to be discovered, marked out by changing horizons hidden behind a series of ridges.
The Farmhouse guests have use of a lovely open-air swimming pool, a library teeming with magazines and books on architecture, art, travel and nature, in both Italian and English, and a bowling green.
For lovers of horse-riding, the Farmhouse also has a covered riding school, two uncovered fields for horse-riding and two stables where you can leave your horses. Qualified trainers are available for lessons at various levels and for trips on horseback.
A guided tour of the Farmhouse Company (a biological farm since 1981) will make your stay really special and make you feel at one with nature.
