A warm and welcoming atmosphere in the splendid Val Di Chiana
Located just beneath the old city walls of the ancient Etruscan town of Cortona, the "Sole del Sodo" takes it name from the district in which it is located and the warmth of the sun which lights it up and warms it from dawn until dusk. The "Sole del Sodo" is the crowning of a dream which Claudia and her three sisters have always had: and now they have transformed the house not just into a warm and welcoming Bed & Breakfast but also, and above all, into a place where the young and not so young alike can meet, have fun and be together, perhaps over a nice glass of wine, with a splendid sunset in the background?.
Surrounded by fields of olive trees and dominated by the peace and quiet for which the valley in front is known, the "Sole del Sodo" consists of an ancient central country house which dates back to the end of the Nineteenth Century with 6 double rooms, 4 of which have private en-suite bathrooms, and 2 of which share a bathroom, and 6 delightful apartments skilfully created out of the old stables
The six bedrooms, finely furnished in a style which is the perfect mix of classical country style with the modern, will make you feel part of the truly special and warm atmosphere which Claudia has created here at the "Sole del Sodo", also the result of the details and extravagant lights, designed and created while the house was being restored. The Bed & Breakfast, then, has Internet points, satellite TV and a fine swimming pool.
Here, you can stay in the room of the veils with its warm colours: orange, yellow and red, with light veils hanging from the canopy bed. Or why not try the room of the doves which is inspired by those who used to "occupy" this room, with its romantic bed on a risen floor and a lovely stone fireplace? There is also the room of the past with the decorations on the walls which reproduce ancient letters and objects from the 1960s/70s, the Zen room, small, well-lit and enriched by precious details or, finally, the tree room, given this name because during the restoration, a fresco of an olive tree was discovered. This room also has a wonderful little terrace.
The six apartments at "Sole del Sodo", which were once little stables, have been carefully restored and are now fine mini-apartments. These apartments can be used as handy little holiday homes or the perfect place to stay for anyone looking to stay in this splendid cornet of Tuscany for longer periods. They are comfortable and here your privacy is respected at all times.
Breakfast offers a choice of various menus and is served in the large pasta-making room. The name comes from the lovely early Twentieth-Century pasta-making machine found here. On request, you can also have breakfast in your room.
