In Rome, just fifty metres from Saint Peter's Square, the "Guastella sotto il Cupolone" bed and breakfast is in a wonderful position. As soon as you walk down the staircase in the Seventeenth-Century building in which the bed and breakfast is located, you pass beneath the arches of the city walls which mark out the historic "Borgo" district. Then turn the corner and walk a short distance: you are now in the marvellous square left to us by Michelangelo, with Saint Peter's Basilica right there. Your breath will be taken away by its total magnificence.

This place tells you the history of Rome: its buildings and the life of the true Romans who have lived in these lanes and alleys for centuries. Here you will find tiny streets where once upon a time cardinals, the common people and the nobility lived side by side.

But it's not just the position which will leave you enchanted in this small home, consisting of just one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The Guastella home is famous for its wood. From the ceilings to the rafters in the guests' room and the beautiful loft which marks out the two levels of this charming apartment.

The bed & breakfast is run with the experience and generosity of a true Roman family who keep the house totally spick and span at all times. Watch out for their treats as well, especially for you. From here, the whole city and its wonderful sites are within walking distance. Don't miss Saint Peter's Square, Castel S. Angelo, Piazza Navona or the characteristic Trastevere area. The Borgo area itself is safe and has very little traffic. It is teeming with nice little restaurants and "trattorie" with genuine Roman cuisine, lovely arts and crafts shops and top night spots.
