The Ca' Rielo apartment is 60 square metres big and consists of a tavern which has been made into a kitchen, complete with tables and chairs, a fridge, a freezer, a gas cooker, a sink and anything you may need to make a nice meal (pots and pans, plates, glasses, cutlery etc.), and a large lounge with bedspace for four, a comfy sofa and a TV. The bathroom has a nice shower.
The location, then, is just ideal for visiting the city: it is just 5 minutes from "Venezia Santa Lucia" train station and a five minute walk to Piazzale Roma. The world-famous Saint Mark's Square, then, is easy to get to using the excellent public transport system, especially as you are in the very central "Sestrier Cannareggio" area.
The area's main canal (the Cannareggio Canal) is joined directly with the Grand Canal and is a nice and lively area: you will see endless streams of gondolas pass by, as well as private boats and "water" buses, heading off to various parts of the city.
Near the apartment, you simply must visit the "Madonna dell'Orto" Church. This is one of the most beautiful churches in all Venice, famous for its frescoes by Tintoretto: "The Final Judgement", "View of Saint Peter's Cross", "The Conversion of Saint Paul" and "The Presentation of the Virgin at the Temple". The family chapel is home to the tombs of the artist and his children.
You should also visit the "New Ghetto", located on a small island in the Cannareggio district. Set up in 1516, it is believed to be the first Jewish ghetto in the world.
