A plunge into the real Tuscan countryside
Located near Casole d'Elsa, Borgo al Cerro arose as a fortified farmstead along the much contested border between the Florentine Guelfs and the Ghibbelines of Siena. From its ancient walls, one can still read the traces of traditional rural civilization. The complex has been beautifully restored with due consideration for its pre-existing architectural details. The barn, the hayloft, the stables and the farmers' living quarters have been transformed in large and comfortable apartments, each with two bathrooms and an independent entrance and garden. The guests will here find Tuscany at its best, exactly the way they have always imagined it to be.
The complex is composed of 15 spacious apartments with 3 to 12 beds, 2 to 4 bathrooms with shower, and a living room with kitchenette. All apartments have a small well-equipped private garden.
The attractive parkland surrounding the Borgo boasts a nice swimming pool with Jacuzzi, a wood-burning pizza oven, and a barbeque, which are all at the guests' disposal.
There is also a small restaurant on the property, 'Osteria del Borgo,' where the guests may savour the most exquisite Tuscan dishes and wines at attractive prices.
A medieval country track, only 800 metres long and with interesting and suggestive views, connects the residence with Casole d'Elsa, while easy and short drives will get you from the peacefulness of the Borgo to the most important historical centres of Tuscany (Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, Volterra) and the Tyrrhenian coast.
The Borgo is located on high ground with a beautiful vista of the surrounding countryside, below the medieval hill town of Casole d'Elsa along the ancient road leading up to this village (800 metres covered on foot). Casole is only a small place compared to the neighbouring ones, and yet it offers anything that is needed.
A stay at Borgo al Cerro means getting totally absorbed in the Tuscan countryside, while surrounded by a comfortable and refined environment.
