Florence Charterhouse
Surrounded by a circle of high walls, rises on Mount Acuto, at the confluence of Ema with Greve in Galluzzo zone.
The Florence Charterhouse source is a 14th century building. Its construction is due to Niccolò Acciaioli, Lord of Florence, who wanted to start working as a centre of religious life and education and education of young people. Construction began in 1342 and continued for several centuries thanks to the offerings of the Lords of Florence. Niccolò Acciaioli is dedicated To the namesake Palace, once his abode, today seat of the picture gallery.
Numerous are the buildings that compose it: the Church, the ala chapter, the sacristy, the refectory, the cloister, the workshops and the dwellings for the monks and converged.
