The buildings and institutions in Torre Pellice testify to its role as capital of the Waldensian world, with all the culture and traditions that accompany it. Everything is Waldensian here: the Foresteria (guest house), the Museum with its rich documentation of Waldensian history and an interesting ethnographic exhibition, the Waldensian House (the venue for the Synod every year), the church dating from 1852. Torre Pellice is a place where tourists come, even from abroad, to trace the history of the area. It is quite different from other, similar mountain towns, which are solitary and isolated. Its economy today is based mainly on the tertiary sector and on providing services to its citizens.
