A tourist location known for the Carthusian Monastery of San Lorenzo, one of the most amazing and grandiose monuments in Southern Italy, Padula rises on a hill dominating the Diano Vallum, whose remains are kept in the Archaeological Museum, set up in the "Chiostro Grande" Cloister in the Carthusian Monastery. Nearby you can see the few remains of the "Lucana Consolium", a commercial centre destroyed by the Barbarians. Outside the centre, you can see the fascinating ruins of the Baptistery of S. Giovanni in Fonte from the Fifth and Sixth Centuries
