The City of Imperia, born in 1923 from the incorporation of the two towns of Porto Maurizio and Oneglia, extends out from the sea to the first steep faces of the Maritime Alps, so that its weather is temperate in summer and mild in winter. Its name is historically linked with that of extra-virgin olive oil. The history and the culture of olive oil is well documented in the Olive Oil Museum, put together with love and precision by the "Carli Brothers Olive Oil" Company, of Oneglia . The second mainstay of Imperia's traditional industries is pasta made of durum wheat which is produced and marketed in Imperia. The tie of the City with the sea has always been strong and lives again today in world premiere events.
