Berceto is situated in Val taro, a nice valley in Emilia region , setting between Toscana and Liguria , near to Parma and Cinque Terre, one of most ancient villages of Apennine mountains, that developed itself around a Benedictine Abbey since VII century. Still nowadays , while you walk in the historical centre of Berceto you can find around centuries of history: in the streets paved in the times past, in the old houses built with stones and in the ancient hand worked portals of the doors. Further the Berceto Cathedral is one of the most important monument you should visit when you will travel along the “Via Francigena ”. In this area is produced the famous cheese “Parmigiano Reggiano”,rich of mountain flavours and fragrances, always used in the tasty traditional cooking of the Apennine.
